Wetlands are the sponges and filters of the watershed !

I liked this little 4 x 6 inch painting sketch I did of the Belleisle Marsh.

I thought I’d make a larger studio painting of it.

I worked the composition and values out in a monochromatic under painting with Burnt Sienna.  As I lay in the colors, I will make adjustments.

The Belleisle Marsh is located on the north side of the Annapolis River, along Highway # 1, approximately 13 kilometers east of Annapolis Royal.  This proposed wildlife management area is approximately 287 hectares. The land is owned by the Province of Nova Scotia and jointly managed with Ducks Unlimited Canada.
